New Judge Appointed: Cayuga County

Cayuga County saw a judicial transition in late December as Darius J. Lind was appointed to serve as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court in the 7th Judicial District. The appointment fills a vacancy on the bench and places Lind among the justices responsible for handling significant civil and criminal matters across the district.

The New York State Supreme Court serves as the state’s primary trial court of general jurisdiction, overseeing complex litigation, constitutional issues, and major disputes that may arise within the region.

The appointment marks an important development in the local judicial landscape, as Supreme Court justices play a central role in interpreting state law and presiding over high-level proceedings.
